I graduated as a Surgeon from the Universidad del Norte de Barranquilla in 2003 and then completed the specialty in General Surgery at the Fundación Universidad San Martín in 2009. In my professional practice as a specialist in General Surgery, I acquired great skill and surgical ability. , since it is a demanding medical practice that resolves diseases through surgical procedures, both elective and emergency in the systems (Gastrointestinal, Head and Neck, Vascular, Breast, Skin and Soft Tissues, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, Plastic Surgery and Oncology)
Subsequently, I completed a Master's Degree in Liposculpture, being a disciple of the renowned teachers Dr. Giorgio Fischer, Italian Gynecologist who invented the modern liposuction procedure in 1974, and Dr. Pierre Fournier, French General Surgeon, creator and developer of the “ Lipoplasty”, which consists of performing fat suction and dry peripheral remodeling.
Additionally, in 2014 in Cali, I completed studies and practices in MINIMALLY INVASIVE AESTHETIC PROCEDURES at the Colombian Association of Cosmetic Surgery, taught by Senior Surgeon Professor Dr. Pierre Fournier, q.e.p.d. Among the most notable procedures were Blepharoplasty, Facial Bioplasty or Lipoinjection (Fat Grifting), Axillary Curettage and other facial techniques. As a Specialist I have perfected these techniques, especially Eyelid Surgery and Facial Lipofilling (Stem Cells), evolving them and taking them to a higher level, following technological and medical advances.
About my teacher, I can say that at his age, more than 90 years old, he kept his hand steady in the operating room. Perhaps it was not a very extensive study, but it was enriching in knowledge and surgical practice. I am very proud to have had world-class teachers, like Dr. Pierre Fournier. Among the quotes that stand out the most are: “May the knowledge that he taught multiply like Fire and be the path to new knowledge.” “Beauty and health, a concept of life.” Is it Liposuction or Liposculpture? As Master Fournier says, the most appropriate term is Liposculpture, since it is the perfection of the liposuction technique, in which only fats and lipids are extracted. In Liposculpture, they are injected and molded, given shape and harmony, similar to the work of an artist and sculptor.
This last concept of Artist and Surgeon allows me to address the topic of "Eyelid Surgery between Science and Art." Maybe because I am a woman, it is innate to be detail-oriented and seek perfection, to be delicate with fabrics, not to think that everything is the same, to always look for symmetry and harmony that only God gives us. Without a doubt measure, measure and remeasure, looking for symmetry and proportion, which brings us closer to the design of the supreme "Beautiful and Natural". Likewise, as a surgeon I know that good and excellent results are only achieved with many years of experience and refinement of the surgical techniques used.
Likewise, the only thing that SURGEONS can guarantee to our patients is to work with the same Ethics, Endeavor and Love with each one of them. The result depends on some factors, not all of which are in the hands of the Surgeon, such as whether the patient follows the instructions given, whether the postoperative period passes normally and whether the patient's body responds to the work we do.
